Do I want to continue with OCS.

Tue Oct 6, 2009, 7:19 PM
This past week I've been having 2nd thoughts about continue with Army OCS program. Wondering is this what I want? What do you want out of your life and were do you want to go. When I got into the OCS program a few months ago, seems like a good idea, I was having a hard time finding a job, I needed some sort of direction. It was hard coming out of college and not able to find a job, till a few months later then losing it, then getting another and quitting it based on other advice.

Now my current job values me, but I didn't go to college to make t-shirts and print signs for sales. So I have been applying online to other jobs related to my field of study. I have been getting calls back and having interviews set up. Its a wonderful feeling to be wanted for a job. Then I started to think about my job with the military and my OCS program. When I original looked into going back into the military I was looking at the multimedia / illustrator position posted online. I was considering would it be possible I can try to apply for that position since I went to school to study that field.

Trying to make that happen I contacted my OCS recruiter, I have a feeling he is not going to help me. His job is to get personal into officer positions in bases to get his quota as a recruiter. So I came to understanding if this is something I want I am going to have to go out and find it. I found two positions online posted regarding this position. They are located in FL and in CA national guard bases. To make sure if this is possible I contacted my old recruiter who originally turned me to the officer route and asked if this is possible. I contacted the position online to see if it is possible.

I know there are great pay benefits to being an officer, high pay, bonus money and leadership experience. Is that why I want to be come an officer for money?!?! I like money, as much as the next person, I enjoy working hard for it. But do I want to do a job I know I can do, excel in and enjoy. Or do I take a job that that has a lot of responsibility , nice pay benefits but in a position of high hazards and combat.

I gotta make sure the option is possible before I can start making these big changes.

love is meaningless to those who hates.
then again love vary from people to people.
care for those you love cuz that the only thing you can ever do before your death.
trust is important in life cuz you can't love unless you know how to trust.
